SurfStatsLive User Types
The SurfStatsLive Reporting Service recognizes three types of users: (1) Server
Administrators, (2) Profile Administrators and (3) SurfStatsLive users (also called
End Users).
Server Administrators
Server Administrators are typically network administrators or support personnel
at the organization that provides the SurfStatsLive Reporting Service to third
party clients. Server Administrators perform the following roles:
Decide on which users should have the rights to administer profiles for which
virtual web servers on a physical server.
Generate profile groups that correspond to the virtual web servers present on
a physical server.
Add/Remove users from the Profile Administration role per virtual web server.
Administration of the SurfStatsLive Log file and Merging Service.
Reset site profiles, as requested generating a rescan of the log files to
populate a specific site profile.
Suspend and resume site profiles, which stops and resume the update of site
profile databases from log files.
Administration of global data used by the SurfStatsLive Reporting Service (for
instance search engine information, browser footprint information, Resolved
IP address entries etc.).
Profile Administrators
Profile Administrators are users that are allowed to administer site profiles on a
per virtual web server (or per profile group) basis on a physical server. One
Profile Administrator can administer the profiles for more than one virtual web
server. Profile Administrators perform the following roles:
Create, edit and delete site profiles for SurfStatsLive Users.
Set up passwords for site profiles.
SurfStatsLive Users
SurfStatsLive users (also called End Users) are users that log in with a web
browser and generate and view reports interactively. A SurfStatsLive user logs on
with a site profile name and password, which was created by a Profile
Administrator on a specific Virtual Web Server or from multiple log sources. When
a SurfStatsLive user logs on, web site activity reports are interactively displayed
for the site profile.
